We invite you to visit our Pozible campaign and help our sick budget.

We invite you to visit our Pozible campaign and help our sick budget.

You might have seen on our Facebook page that we’re currently in the middle of a pretty sizable crowd funding campaign.

We’ve got 27 days left on a 30-day drive to raise $10,000 for our very unhappy budget.

We here at WIGS are unfortunately reliant on successful grant applications, and we didn’t get as many of those last year as we would have liked – or as many as we really needed.

Don’t worry – we have your festival organised. It’s happening. And we hope you’re as excited as we are.

But, we still need to find the money for things like program printing and design, production costs, venue hire and artist fees.

So we’ve gone to Pozible. It’s a really easy site to use, and is very similar to its American cousin, Kickstarter. You can watch our Festival video, read a little spiel from us to you and check out the rewards on offer depending on how much you’d like to pledge (as little as $10 or as much as $5000 – we don’t mind!)

If you’ve decided to donate, you click “support project”, and get taken to a page where you can log in using your Facebook account, or create a Pozible account, or use an existing Pozible account – it’s entirely up to you.

Then you tell us how much you’d like to pledge, pick a fitting reward and we sleep a little easier at night.

Here’s that link again:

Here we are, venturing out into the vast depths of the internet. Thanks for finding us!

This site is designed to work in correlation with our Facebook page (which you can check out in the Widgets bar to the right) in creating an accessible and informative online presence for our Festival during its infancy.

After negotiations with the Perth Writers Festival we presented our first Write In the Great Southern Festival in February 2012. And what a surprisingly successful event with the local communities coming out to support and encourage us on our way. The bulk of the program is presented in Albany but the aim is to expand and present at a number regional towns. In 2012 Denmark hosted two events. In 2013 we will be presenting authors in Denmark and Mt Barker. So it’s a slow and gentle but important creeping into the regions.

If you’d like to see a bit more from 2012 or look ahead to what next month’s Festival has in store, use the tabs at the top right of this page or find our email address in the “contact” section and send us a question.

WIGS 2013 will take place from February 24 until February 26, and we look forward to seeing you there!
